Head held high, like you own the place That won't fly, look at the mess that you create. I gotta work on my opinion, before you change my mind for me This is feeling like a prison
PUSH IT DOWN, PUSH IT DOWN IT CAN'T CONTROL YOU PUSH IT DOWN, PUSH IT DOWN IT CAN'T CONTROL YOU This feeling in your chest is rising Closer to the edge you're riding Destinies are coinciding SO PUSH IT DOWN
You're on fire, they're falling at your feet Dish it out, all lies that will eat And I can't help but wonder about the person underneath Now do you do this coz you need it?
CHORUS Guitar solo SO PUSH IT DOWN You've got a nerve, coming in here with a face like that What you deserve, you know it's coming for ya, I can promise you that I'm gonna show you!
I watch you from a distance, like a stranger in disguise Following your actions, coz it's those that I despise... MEGA CHORUS TO END!
Hey guys!! So, in the first of my series of blogs about the lyrics of the songs on Reclaim Set Fire, I wanted to cover track 6 - PUSH IT DOWN.
Push It Down deals with my feelings about those wonderful (?!) people with inflated egos who go about doing whatever they want without any care for others, and getting away with it! It's a mixture of frustration at their actions, understanding that it might come from a place of low self-esteem, but also jealousy that they can go about getting away with their shit and are so often praised for being amazing... UGH!
There's also an awesome guitar solo in this song (and in two others on the album) so you can really hear a bit more of Alex! Quite a few people asked for that after they heard the last album! (you're welcome ;) )
If you have any questions on the lyrics I would LOVE to chat about them, please leave a comment and I'll come right back to ya! Vxx
